LIVING THE DREAM!

Back on track

I’m done I’m done I’m done I’m on holiday!! Ok so actually that is slightly old news but I’m still loving it. Such a relief to be finished with this year – it has been really tough but easily my most fun year at uni so far. Loads of stuff happened and I hope I will get up to loads over this very long and sunny summer break. I promise I will get back to keeping you all updated on here.

End of exam celebrations involved this sizable effort:

Caipirinhas at Las Iguanas happy hour =)

It was made all the more difficult because they kept clearing up our glasses as we finished them so we had to resort to hiding the empties under a chair. And yes there were only two of us.

I have also been generally enjoying the fantastic weather we have been having and have broken out in a multitude of freckles whilst sitting in the park and reading books – I had forgotten how much fun fiction can be! I saw Claire’s musical on Wednesday which was fantastic, great singing, lots of jokes and as lead ‘soiled dove’ I thought she did an awesome job. Finally I have also started booking up summer things like a few days in Cornwall and a week in Edinburgh to see my dad and grandparents. London people shouldn’t worry I will be coming to see you soon =)

Tarifa 2009

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

You may have seen some of the thousands of tagged photos from this years multi-university kitesurfing trip to Tarifa on Facebook. If you have then you will probably have gathered that the whole ordeal was rather epic. We had pretty good wind, fantastic sunshine and great people. Once again Bristol + David were the heart and soul of the trip and once again we adopted the good folks from Falmouth and Birmingham kitesurfing societies into our midst.

There was pub golf which ended in the free-drink-mecca of Soho in the old town. They are the photos where everyone has their legs tied together with cling film! There was also a rave night; an example of the prerequisite attire follows:

Unfortunately we were not allowed on the roof of Tarifa’s famous Café del Mar, but there was plenty of manic bouncing to be had. Dave’s orange braces turned out to be a highlight for limbo competitions and general elastic slapping. The sensible people downed copious quantities of tequila in my room before heading out.

Five times world champion kitesurfer Mr Aaron Hadlow appeared in our midst both on the water and in our apartments – if only to drink my beer, steal my penknife and ‘borrow’ a Bristol girl for the night. All the same, it was something to write home about.

But best of all of it was probably the evening hangouts outside the apartments with a cool crisp beer or three. You just can’t beat that kind of strenuous occupation after a long day on the water with the wind blowing and the sun shining =)

Up north

It was pretty epic really, for being a spontaneous snowboarding trip to Dalarna. Since when does Sweden get such perfect blue skies? Minus twelve was quite crisp and the snow wasn’t perfect but it was great to be outside all day every day. Even our relatively tame new years eve was quite nice, with a plentiful supply of fireworks and the most crystal clear night sky I have ever seen. I have never seen ‘star dust’ before, when even the most remote stars contribute to the shimmering night sky. I must be turning into a romantic puddle of philosophy =)
