Hoochie Coochie

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

By popular demand of my flat mates we all went to a rather random cabaret Halloween show last night. There were acrobats and fire eaters and a woman doing very freaky things with long nails and a hammer. But the best bit was dressing up as someone famous who is dead…

Notts

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Went up to Nottingham this weekend although the original plan of actually seeing the place completely didn’t happen. But we did go and see the new pixar movie ‘up’. It was very cute and in polarised 3d which is sooo much cooler than red and green 3d. Go see it for the heart warming entertainment you have come to expect from pixar.
Saturday went to Lord Byrons ansestoral home Newston Abbey. It has great gardens and a tea shop, but the best bit is spotting the peacocks up the top of the treas =)

Secret spot

Friday, October 9th, 2009

You know you have finally made it in the kitesurfing world when someone offered to show you one of britains elusive top secret flat water kiting spots. I couldn’t believe my luck, smooth strong 25 mph wind and not a ripple in sight. And only four of us from brizzle plus three other locals. I haven’t had such a good and easy for learning session in years. Well that was at least until I massively stacked it doing a huge jump with a double rotation and somehow sent my kite into a megaloop. And got wiplash. But it was sooo worth it cause I now have the top secret gps coordinates too…

Carnyville

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Ok this one is a hard one to describe… Imagine a deserted fire station in the centre of Bristol with a large courtyard in the middle. It had one of those fire towers for practicing putting out fires, and it has wrought iron balconies around the walls.
Basically, a circus group had made the whole area into a stage set village complete with sinister shops, a job centre plus and it’s own currency. All of the public were dressed up so it was impossible to tell who was a performer and who wasn’t. There was a whole back story too. The citizens of carnyville were forbidden from having fun but gradually throughout the evening the performers started to break free. And there was acrobatics on the sides of buildings, tightrope walking, fire juggling and a full circus stage show. Never seen anything like it – absolutely incredible!

Fresh

5th freahers fair and equally mental as ever. We reckon we knicked a lot of members from the windsurfers which is always the aim and giving out free biscuits was the best investment ever! Bring on this year =)

Malvern

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

It was so nice to get away from it all to a place with no mobile phone reception anywhere (just about all of the uks 0.2% of no coverage is in herefordshire) and no internet and no computer. We were staying in a fantastic green oak ‘eco-house’ with solar power and ground source heating. We were even forbidden from using anything other than ecogical washing up liquid! And the best part? It want the hill walking, or the biking, it was speaking to sensible mature adults…
